Ralph calls an assembly and explains that these assembly ought to be more serious and not for fun or laughter but everyone ignore what he says. Jack has just come from the hunting and then starts to tell everyone that how they killed the pig. Ralph yells at Jack for leaving the fire unguarded. Ralph reviews the rules again. Littluns start to talk about the beasties and everyone is puzzled that if there is such thingh or not. Then Simon says that these beasties are real even though he himself does not believe. He says the littluns' shelter is full of terrible noises and screams in the mid-night. Then a littlun- Percival steps up and says that the beasties come from the ocean in the dark and starts to cry. Some of the littlun think that this beast might be a squid from the ocean. Jack starts to talk without the conch and refuses to follow the rules. Piggy tells Ralph that Jack hates him and everyone else. Jack goes wandering to the forest.

I think this is the chapter when we can really start to see things unravelling on the island. The boys are all scaring themselves and neglecting their duties. I agree with Ralph that the fire should not be left unguarded for hunting, but obviously Jack has a different opinion...

haha.. yea the picture is definetly hilarious! I agree with christina in that things are starting to go bad. I think that's mainly because the fear of the beast finally explodes and this ruins poor Ralph's attempt in restoring order! I liked how it remained uncertain whether or not a beast actually existed at this point!
